Jolly Postman

Week commencing 19th November 2018:

  • Talk about  why we use the post office (CL)
  • Read the Jolly Postman/Dear Zoo (L)
  • Write letters and use the postbox (L)
  • Use push button cars (UtW)
  • Make letters using pasta (EAD)
  • Make marks with chalks, white boards, pads (L)
  • Write letters in the sand tray (L)
  • Transfer water between bowls using sponges (PD)
  • Learn Christmas songs (EAD)
  • Hopscotch (PD,M)

Don’t forget to sign up for Parents meeting this Thursday, if  you wish to see your child’s key person.

 

Dwali/Fireworks

Week commencing 5th November 2018. This week we will:
– Sing firework songs with sounds (CL)
– Dark den – use torches in a dark classroom ((UTW)
– Make firework pictures by throwing tea bags (EAD)
– Talk about road safety – tuff spot (UTW)
– Fireworks number songs (M, EAD)
– Sort and count natural objects (M)
– Make rangoli patterns with chalk on the playground (UTW)
– Make divas out of clay (PD)
– Draw shapes in the sand using sticks (M)
– Make rockets out of cardboard tubes (EAD)
– Talk about our experience of fireworks (CL, UTW)

Halloween/Room on the Broom

Week Commencing 29th October 2018, we will:

  • Make spooky soup and write recipes in the home corner (L, EAD)
  • Match spider legs with dots and numbers (M)
  • Find the objects in the sand and put them in shape categories (M)
  • Retell Room on the Broom with props (L,CL)
  • Make potions (UTW, EAD)
  • Guide balls around obstacle course with broomsticks (PD)
  • Match Halloween rhyming words (L)
  • Read Hansel and Gretel (L)
  • Make ghost pictures in gloop/foam (PD/L)

The Gruffalo

Week commencing 15th October 2018:

– Act out the story of the Gruffalo (L)
– Make a forest scene for the display board (EAD)
– MESSY PLAY! Scrambled snake, Owl ice cream, Gruffalo crumble (PD)
– Roll the dice and add purple prickles (M)
– Build the characters houses (PD)
– Make soup in the water tray using natural objects (PD, EAD)
– Move like animals, Owl, Mouse, Snake, Fox and Gruffalo (PD)
– Write letters from our names in the sand (L)
– Gruffalo dominoes (PSED)
– Build a den (PD)
– Read the story using props (L)

 

Autumn

Week commencing 8th October 2018:

  • Know that leaves change colour (UTW)
  • Learn new songs for Autumn (EAD)
  • Make marks on the soil (L)
  • Make Christmas cards (EAD)
  • Build a den using tyres, blocks and material (EAD, PD)
  • Make woodland creatures in the play dough (EAD, PD)
  • Woodland tuff spot – What can you see? (UTW, CL)
  • Thread numbered leaves on the string (PD, M)
  • Roll Conkers through paint down the guttering (EAD)

  • Ribbon dancing to music (EAD, PD)
  • Promote indépendance e.g putting on shoes (PD)

Welcome

Welcome back to all our wonderful families, we’re looking forward to begin our first week with you all. Welcome also to out new families. We are so excited to meet you all, we hope you are excited to begin your Buckles and Bows journey! We hope you had a fantastic Summer Holiday and created some wonderful memories.

Incase you missed the news last week we wish Lyn a HUGE congratulations as she is expecting her first child in January!

This week will be:

  • Introducing names, key persons and children (PSED)
  • Nursery routine, reminders to new and old (PSED)
  • Sing nursery rhymes/songs with props (CL, EAD)
  • Create large marks with chalk (L, EAD)
